Branch Outings
The branch organises a programme of outings throughout the year for SOC members to enjoy. With a varied membership from seasoned birdwatchers to beginners, we plan our outings around seasonal highlights in the birding calendar. For example, a trip to the Oak woodlands of Loch Lomond in spring to look for freshly arrived migrant birds such as Redstart and Wood Warblers, inland wetlands at passage wader times when we hope to see Green Sandpiper, Black-tailed Godwit, etc and coastal sites to enjoy the many wintering waders and ducks.
As well as getting to see some of Scotland’s beautiful birdlife, outings are a great opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals whilst bettering your bird ID skills. There’ll always be someone on hand to help with the trickier aspects of field identification so all levels of birdwatcher are welcome. We hope you’ll feel more confident as the seasons progress in identifying what you’re seeing.
Not a member yet?
Non-members interested in finding out more about the Club, our activities and membership, are more than welcome to come along and sample one of our outings. Please contact Outings Organiser, David Palmar by email for more information and to arrange. We look forward to meeting you!
Access to a programme of talks and outings across Scotland
Although members are affiliated to their nearest branch of the Club, you’re free to attend talks and outings organised by any of the other branches too. So if you’re going up north for your holidays or working down south for example, do have a look and see if there’s anything on around the time of your visit!
