BIRDS WE HOPE TO SEE: The park is very good for woodland birds, including Siskin, Nuthatch, Stock Dove, Treecreeper, Great Spotted Woodpecker and Jay. On the lochs, beside large numbers of Coot, Mallard and Tufted Duck, there are Wigeon, Teal, Goldeneye, Gadwall, Goosander, Heron and Snipe; Whooper Swans and Great-crested Grebe are also likely. Kestrels hunt over the meadow and Buzzards are not uncommon.
TRAVELLING: Drumpellier is located 16 miles east of Glasgow. It can be reached by train from Glasgow Queen Street to Blairhill station, which is a 30-minute walk through the park from the Visitor Centre. If you are coming by car and are willing to offer a lift, or would like a lift, and are happy for your contact details to be shared, please contact the outings organiser Ania Owsianka ([email protected]) to arrange car sharing. Parking is free.

TERRAIN: Tarmac & gravel paths (may be muddy).
OPTICS: Binoculars are essential and a telescope would be useful.
FOOTWEAR and CLOTHING: Sturdy boots and warm, waterproof clothing. It is advisable to check the weather forecast beforehand.
