OUTING LEADER: Donald Wilson
TIME: From 10:30 - 15:00 (approx.), but you are free to leave earlier.
PRICE: Free
VENUE: Meet at the visitor centre (NT159990).
The main interest will be winter visitors such as ducks, geese, swans and waders, but also some passerines in the bushes, and perhaps the occasional raptor. There should also be red squirrels.
TRAVELLING:
Car journey - Allow around an hour and 10 mins for the 50 miles from central Glasgow, either via the M80, M876 and Clackmannanshire Bridge then A977, turning off at Crook of Devon on to the B9097, or via the M8, and M90 across the Queensferry Crossing, turning off the M90 at junction 5 for the B9097.
ADMISSION charge £3 per car, which allows all car occupants into all facilities, but bring your RSPB membership card, as this allows free parking.
Public transport is unlikely to be a practical option.
ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING: There are 12 x 7kW electric car charging points in the car park, which should be able to add about 25 miles of range in an hour. You will need to bring your own Type 2 charging cable. Cost 21p per kWhr. You will need a smartphone with a mobile signal to charge. Go to charge.pod-point.com, and click on "Find a chargepoint" or download the podPOINT App to your phone. Thereafter, in either case you can select "charge without an account" and pay by credit card, or create an account and login.
BOOKING INFO: We are not asking people to book, but it might be helpful if those attending could let David Palmar know if they are willing to offer a lift, or would like a lift, and are willing to share their contact details with people who offer or want a lift, it may be possible to arrange car sharing. Contact email [email protected].
