VENUE: Meet at the reserve car park (Grid Ref NS755552; Post Code ML1 2QW).
The car park is a 1 mile or 20 minute walk from Airbles Station.
BOOKING INFO: We are not asking participants to book, but if many people turn up, we may have to split into smaller groups.
TERRAIN: Mostly tarmac and gravel paths, on either gently sloping or level ground. Some paths may be tricky due to winter flooding.
OPTICS: Binoculars essential; scope advised if you have one but please be prepared to carry it for about 2 miles.
FOOTWEAR and CLOTHING: Walking boots ideally, and appropriate clothing for the conditions.
NB: May be postponed due to poor weather. Check this page, SOC website and Clyde Birding on Twitter in advance.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The pace of the walk will be fairly relaxed and the ambience informal, with discussion and questions encouraged. The outing is suitable for birdwatchers of all levels.
Toilets, drinks and food are not available locally. The nearest such facilities are at M74 Bothwell Services and at Strathclyde Park. Please bring a packed lunch.
We expect to see a variety of water birds, ducks, waders and maybe even a Kingfisher.
The walk will be led by Lang Stewart, who has known the Reserve very well for many years.
