Welcome to Birds in Clyde |
|
Whether you are new to birdwatching, an experienced birder, or somewhere in between, the purpose of this website is to get you involved and further your enjoyment of Scotland's wonderful birdlife.
The Scottish Ornithologists' Club (SOC) was established in 1936 and exists to promote the study, enjoyment and conservation of wild birds and their habitats across Scotland. This is the website of the Clyde Branch of the SOC, which coordinates recording and activities, with regular meetings and outings.
Noticeboard
We are looking to establish a Discussion Group of people already involved in fieldwork & surveys in the Clyde area and those who would like to learn more and perhaps participate in future work. We are at the very early stages of this, but please register your interest with us. |
We are also actively seeking people who might help us with catching up with the backlog of Clyde Bird Reports. If you are interested in helping us in any way, please let us know. You don’t necessarily need to have a vast knowledge of birds or report writing as mentoring / training will be given. Beginners are most welcome. |
NEW: Volunteer surveyors are required for the annual Heronries Census. The following sites in the Clyde are vacant: Cloch Point Wood, Douglas Estate, Dungavel Training Centre, Glen Douglas (MOD compound), Glen Moss, Kilmacolm, Glengavel, Inchconnachan (Loch Lomond), Milton (Kilmacolm). For more information or to volunteer, please contact the BTO Regional Rep Gordon Brady |
