Discussion Group
The next meeting of the Clyde SOC Discussion Group is Tuesday 21st March at 1900 on Zoom.
All, whether SOC members or not, and at all levels of experience / ability are welcome to join us. Just email clydesocdiscussion@gmail.com
The idea is to share ideas, match experienced people with those wanting to learn from others, see how we can fill gaps in knowledge of both species and poorly-recorded sites.

Update: 16 March 2023
At the inaugural meeting in February, we decided to focus on eight species (a mixture of species of conservation concern and easily recognised / popular species). We have produced a map of where these eight species were recorded on BirdTrack in the Clyde area in 2022. You can clearly see that the Lanarkshires (especially South) are very poorly represented. If you live or visit places such as Biggar, Coalburn, Crawfordjohn, Daer Reservoir, Kirkmuirhill, Lanark, Leadhills, Stonehouse, Wiston, etc please submit some records to in order to increase our knowledge. See Recording and Reporting birds for more information.

An inaugural meeting of the Clyde SOC Branch Discussion Group was held on 15th February on Zoom. 23 people attended it and it was a very fruitful meeting with people sharing what survey/fieldwork they do at present and what they might like to do. A note of the meeting outlining actions and conclusions is currently being written. To get a copy of that, to find out more or to register your interest in getting involved please email clydesocdiscussion@gmail.com

Clyde SOC Branch Discussion Group.
An inaugural meeting is planned for 1900 on Wednesday 15th February on Zoom. If you've already registered an interest, you should have received an email about this. This first meeting is very much about seeing what interest there is, find out about what people are doing / would like to do in terms of survey and monitoring birds. We are particularly keen on encouraging 'beginners' to get involved either in existing surveys or new ones. Those of us who have informally discussed it have thought it would be good to focus on a few species and try and get more information about them. Species suggested so far are Tree Sparrow, Yellowhammer, Nuthatch and Rookeries and we will discuss them (and any others people may suggest) at the meeting. If you'd like to join us on the 15th or would like an input, please email clydesocdiscussion@gmail.com
