Clyde Big Birding Day 2022

Clyde Big Birding Day - May 14th 2022

We hope that many people in the Clyde area will choose to do some birdwatching on May 14th as part of Global Birding Day.  In 2021, over 7,000 species were recorded worldwide on that day by over 50,000 participants from 192 countries.

You can participate as little or as much as you want.
  • Just spend a few minutes watching and recording birds in your garden or in a park
  • Thoroughly bird your local patch that day
  • Try and see how many species you can record in 24 hours in the Clyde area on 14th May.
  • Offer to try and locate one of the scarce species in the Clyde (e.g. Ptarmigan, Green Woodpecker, Long-eared Owl, etc)

As this is an event where we want many people involved, can you help by:
  • Encouraging others to get involved (whether complete novices, or perhaps youth groups / schools, etc)
  • Mentor someone by taking them birding.
  • Join up with a more experienced birder

After you've been out birdwatching on May 14th we ask that you report your records via:
  • BirdTrack (as soon afterwards as possible)
  • or, check the Recording and Reporting page on the website for other ways to report your sightings
  • If you have just a short list of birds seen, you can use the contact form too. Please remember that for you records, we need the four “W’s” (What species, Where, When [will be 14 May] and Who saw / heard it).

All records will be submitted to the database of birds recorded in the Clyde and you will be acknowledged.

If you have any questions you can also get in touch with us using the contact form.
