BIRDS WE HOPE TO SEE: Winter thrushes, finches, tits, water birds on the canal; with luck there could be a wintering Water Rail or a Kingfisher.
TRAVELLING: Public transport – by bus (7, 71A, 72, 75) from Glasgow city centre, or by subway to St George’s Cross (half a mile away). If coming by car, there is plenty of free parking in Applecross Street. BOOKING: There is no need to book.
TERRAIN: Mainly flat, even paths, although there is a steep climb to a viewpoint over the city. The paths are suitable for wheelchairs.
OPTICS: Binoculars are essential; a telescope could be useful.
FOOTWEAR and CLOTHING: Sturdy footwear and warm, waterproof clothing. It is advisable to check the weather forecast beforehand.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: There are no public toilets on the reserve, but David can give us access to toilets.
